The American Deaf community includes people who are deaf and hard of hearing, of course.  Close others might include parents, and children, who may have a daily presence.  Others are intermittently present throughout the life of a deaf or hard of hearing person.  If you are an interpreter, you can expect to meet people representative of groups or places on this page.

NOTE: Obviously, deaf people have lives as broad and complex as hearing people.  Every possible group and place are not included here because we include only groups and places with whom the interpreter will probably connect or about whom s/he should have a familiarity.  After all, this is a site for interpreters, right?  (smile)
