Billy is a deaf adult with extensive experience in capturing young audiences with his acting and storytelling abilities.

A powerful learning tool to improve recognition of fingerspelled words. Deaf people introduce themselves in an unrehearsed setting, followed by an enhanced presentation, allowing any sign language student to increase comprehension and improve self-confidence.

Fingerspelled words are presented in a four-step template building process:
1. Regular Speed - Deaf persons introduce themselves through signs and fingerspelling; 
2. Slow Motion - Fingerspelled word is shown in slow motion; 
3. English Translation - Fingerspelled word is presented in printed English; 
4. Regular Speed - Entire introduction, including the fingerspelled words, is presented at regular speed again.

Can be self-paced or assigned as part of a course in ASL or sign language interpreting.

DPN: The Power And the Promise

Since 2004, Alan R. Abarbanell has toured the U.S. with his critically acclaimed one-man show, "The Abababa Road Tour" chronicling his experiences growing up hearing in a Deaf family. Abababa - a name given to him by a friend who could not pronounce Abarbanell - is a proud CODA (child of deaf adults) and member of CODA International.

Court Interpreter: Speak Your Languages

Get a real-life look at the drama experienced every work day by Claudia Zar, a state and federally certified court interpreter.

In this video, Zar describes growing up in an Italian-speaking family in Mexico, where she learned both English and Spanish in school, as well as working as a freelance interpreter and learning the court procedures. "Going to court is like reading a novel," she says, with another interesting story emerging every day. 

This DVD addresses a number of issues one must face in order to render an accurate interpretation of the Miranda Warnings. The DVD features three outstanding interpreters, Sharon Neumann Solow, Theresa Smith and Anna Witter-Merithew, known for their interpretation work in legal settings and for conducting training related to interpreting in legal settings. Each of these interpreters produced an in-studio rendition of the Miranda Warnings.

The late Lou Rant leads a one-hour discussion with these three internationallly-known interpreters that addresses several topics surrounding accurate interpretation of the Miranda Warnings.
